We transformed Nokia Bell Labs’ underperforming social media into a dynamic, science-led storytelling platform—boosting engagement by over 400% with a more human, curious voice.

PROBLEM

In 2020, Nokia Bell Labs’ social media presence was underperforming, lagging behind key competitors in engagement and reach.

 

INSIGHTS

Through a comprehensive audit, we found posts centred around formal announcements—content that, according to our research, consistently drives low engagement. In contrast, competitors shared fewer announcements and focused more on scientific advancements. 

STRATEGY

We reimagined Bell Labs’ content approach, shifting the focus to groundbreaking scientific discoveries—both from within the labs and across the broader science community. To connect more deeply with their audience, we introduced a nostalgic, celebratory tone, and embraced a geeky, informal voice that reflected the passion behind the science.

 

RESULTS

 

...a more human, curious, and engaging social media presence, with a 400%+ increase in engagement 21% year-over-year organic growth across our social media platforms. Now in our fifth year, we’ve successfully launched some of our scientists into the spotlight as digital storytellers.
